Monarchs Dominate Sparty in Midweek Victory

Old Dominion showcased a complete performance on Wednesday afternoon, routing Norfolk State 15-0 in a seven-inning contest at Marty L. Miller Field. Behind a combined three-hit shutout from the pitching staff and an explosive offensive display, the Monarchs improved their season record to 6-2.

Game Recap: ODU Pulls Away Early

The Monarchs set the tone early, picking up a run in the first inning when Maverick Stallings drove in Zach Leite with a single to center field. They added another in the second after Macaddin Dye scored on a sacrifice fly by Cash Jay.

The game broke open in the fourth inning as ODU exploded for seven runs on five hits. Highlights from the frame included a two-RBI double by Grayson Sparr, an RBI double from Cash Jay, and a two-RBI single from Macaddin Dye that pushed the lead to 9-0.

The Monarchs continued to capitalize on opportunities, adding two more runs in the fifth and four in the seventh—primarily through a series of disciplined at-bats and walks—to reach the final 15-0 margin. Freshman right-hander Chris Cavalcante finished the game in style, striking out the side in the bottom of the seventh.
